All New Renault Mégane R.S. - A New Contender?

With hot hatches like the new Honda Civic Type R and Ford Focus RS reigning in on the market, is Renault's new Megane RS a serious contender? Well it definitely has the credentials to do so, the new Megane RS comes packing a 1.8L 280bph four cylinder engine that kicks out 390Nm of Torque. It also has a nice big turbocharger and direct fuel injection.

Now we had to say that 0-62 times are still under the radar currently, but we can likely presume around the 5.7s mark and a top speed of just over 160mph.

Even the styling has improved with those fantastic daylight running lights and mesh grills. Nico Hulkenberg was also involved with the new Megane RS saying: "Thanks to the new technologies it packs, including 4CONTROL technology, New Mégane R.S. is even more efficient and nimble than its predecessor. It’s a delight to drive.”

But it's not all for looks, the F1 style blade helps with aerodynamics and a wider air intake to help cool the engine all contribute to the Megane's performance.

You may have noticed that it's in a rather bold colour, that's because it's new and specific to the Megane RS. This colour in particular is "Volcanic Orange" that has an almost metallic shine to it.

There will also be a trophy edition of the new model coming out with 300bph upgrade. t will incorporate a number of technologies geared to performance, including the Cup chassis and 19-inch wheels as standard equipment. The performance of a car is also gauged by its braking ability. Renault Sport has introduced two new features to upgrade New Renault Mégane R.S.’s stopping power with new 355mm front discs with brembo calipers! So what do you think? Is the new Megane RS a potential type R killer or not? Let us know in the comments below!
